The Journey to Hungary
The Horvath’s raised their support and moved to Budapest, Hungary in December of 2020, during the pandemic. Their sending church is First Baptist Church of New Philadelphia, Ohio. They planted Zuglói Biblia Gyülekezet (Zugló Bible Church) in the 14th district of Budapest in January of 2024.
Kale Horvath completed his theological training through the Living Faith Bible Institute and was ordained in 2017. He and his wife have over 10 years of experience serving in ministry. Kale served on staff at First Baptist Church as the Youth Pastor from 2015-2019. Kale and Brooke first visited Hungary in 2014, and returned annually until moving to Budapest in 2020.
Kale & Brooke Horvath were married on March 24, 2012 at First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia, OH. They have two sons, Judah, who was born on May 25, 2018, and Isaac, who was born on October 25, 2022.
Kale was born January 8, 1991, and Brooke was born March 1, 1991.
Kale’s family (on his father’s side) is Hungarian. Although they weren’t raised speaking the language, or having ever visited, the family heritage served as an original interest in visiting Hungary in 2014. It is one of the reasons Kale & Brooke fell in love with the country, people, and culture.
The name “Horvath” in Hungary is very common, and often provides open doors as Hungarian nationals are curious and ask why Americans are in Hungary with a Hungarian last name.
Kale and the boys officially became naturalized Hungarian (dual) citizens through their ancestry in 2023.
